Emmanuel’s Paris Apartment

Emmanuel De Bayser is a man of many spaces. Perhaps first known for his most public space – The Corner, a concept store based in Berlin, Emmanuel has also mastered the art of the apartment. Specifically, two of them. One in Berlin, the other in Paris, both immaculately designed by Emmanuel himself, both mid-century masterpieces.

His Paris apartment clocks in just over 600 square feet, though you would never know by looking at the photos. Emmanuel’s ability to incorporate an ornately decorated bedroom into a crisp modern aesthetic proves he knows exactly what he’s doing – in design, comfort, and space. The rest of the home, perfectly organized, and furnished with pieces and designs from some of the most legendary European artists of the 20th century (think Georges Jouve and Jean Prouvé) is a stop-you-in-your-tracks kind of beauty. The kind of beauty that invites you in, offers you a seat on a Pierre Jeanneret armchair, and makes you think, “But how does he keep his carpet so white?”

Et il marche chez lui en chaussettes et ses invités ne boivent pas de vin !
    Bon c’est très joli sinon.

  • What a gorgeous space! Everything is so perfectly grouped and thoughtfully organized.

  • Bel espace lumineux, mais l’ensemble fait un peu trop “magazine deco” pour moi.

  • This apartment is a mere concept not a real living space. I am tired of this all white, smooth-surface fashion in interiors. I crave patterned wallpaper, colour, texture. And paintings with content! It is a beautiful apartment in itself with a gorgeous fireplace!, and some of the furniture is very nice and would be improved by reupholstery. His taste in art in non-existent. And the little shapes of vases and lamps are just plain boring.

The point to patterned rugs is you can walk on them with your shoes and it doesn’t show. I never ask my guests to remove their shoes!

I would have to give up red wine, berry jam, my dog, and much else besides.

  • « Mais comment fait-il pour que la moquette reste si blanche ? »
hahaha ah mais c’est clair !! Et du coup alors, il fait comment ? :D
    Sinon j’adore !

  • I appreciate the peak at this lovely spot and think of it as bits of inspiration versus a lifestyle I’d be able to emulate. i do wish the art was credited by giving artists’ names for featured pieces.

I love how he has designed the arrangement of books in his bookcase. by binding color and by height. I like that attention to detail…

  • I’m in love with the simplicity of mid century furniture. Over the past year I purchased 4 items for my own apartment here in Austin…and couldn’t be happier with the simple yet elegant look.
