On Self-Discovery…

5 months ago by

I have always been one who begrudgingly suffers through New Year’s Eve to get to the good stuff — New Year’s Day.

New Year’s Eve is filled with unnecessary amounts of glitter and champagne induced anxiety. I don’t like the countdown — not just the ten seconds before the clock strikes midnight, but the entire day leading it up to it. There’s just something about marking the passage of time so distinctly that makes me queasy. Basically, I don’t like being reminded of my impending death when I’m trying to live it up in a sparkly dress.

Oh, but how I looovveee New Year’s Day. It’s like Christmas without all the family! You get to lounge around, make some eggs, nurse a hangover and meditate on the new year, filled with limitless possibility.

At the Atelier we wanted to capitalize on this feeling of limitless possibility by looking inward with a month of Self Discovery. Because all possibility starts with you.

Look, I’m usually not the one to say anything that could remotely resemble a quote that is slapped on a coffee mug or embroidered on a pillow, but after experiencing our Art of Self Discovery retreat (lots more on that to come later), I’m really feeling the juju of knowing oneself.

So let’s take this month to dive into our quirks and strengths, and even our weaknesses. Instead of making a gym resolution, let’s make a resolution to know ourselves better, to treat ourselves better, and to love ourselves more.

So cheers to you, to all of you, including the parts you have yet to discover :)
