The Defiant Ones

One of the great secrets of business is that working as a duo is sometimes so much better than going it your own. I like to think this is true of G and I, but I can tell you that it’s definitely the case for Dr. Dre & Jimmy Lovine.

I just finished binge watching the new HBO documentary series, The Defiant Ones. It’s a 4 part series that profiles the rise of these two music giants. It was really one of the best docu-series I’ve seen—the editing was amazing, the music is amazing, the story is so interesting! I had no idea Jimmy Iovine dated Stevie Nicks?! I found it so inspiring to see how two totally different people, with incredibly different upbringings could have so much in common, and collaborate so well together. And also, anything where you get Apple to pay over $3 billion for your business… I mean, it’s just incredible what they’ve built. I’d highly recommend it.

  • That’s interesting.
There’s a classic movie with Sidney Poitier about two convicts- one white and one black- who escape from a chain gang. Because they’re chained together they have to overcome their differences to evade capture. It’s a pretty good movie and I like the reference.

I watched it a few weeks ago and it’s fascinating.

  • I have to agree, great docu series! I was so inspired by them after binge watching it last month, xo
