So, this is a picture of me from when I was… I don’t know, 8 ?

It’s a friend of my mom, Joëlle, who had shot it, and this summer the Daily Elle asked me if I could send them a picture of me when I was a kid. I immediately thought about this one.

I love it cause it’s really who I was. My clothes, my hair, already messy (they were growing back from my first very short haircut that I did when I was… 7?), my wooden necklace.

And that look, that could be mistaken for determination, I’m going to tell you what it really was : Joëlle took that picture while I was crying – you can see the salt of my tears on my cheeks – but I still wanted to be a good girl and smile at her…

I am posting this for you today because I feel it goes well with the post about Scott this morning. If I love that picture Joëlle took, if what I read in it is totally different from any other childhood pictures I have, it’s because she wasn’t afraid to photograph that emotion.
